Interesting Facts about Kissing

Kissing is one of the most beautiful ways of showing your love. There are various ways to kiss. It mostly depends on who you’re kissing. However, there are some things you may not know about kissing that will amaze you. Some might make you want to kiss even more while others might make you want to stop completely. Have a look:

Kissing is actually good for you: Kissing improves your skin, circulation, relieves headaches and even prevents tooth decay. Keep this in mind the next time your partner wants to “cuddle” when you have a headache. Try kissing instead of Tylenol.

Kissing is a workout: A fast peck on the check only uses 2 muscles, whereas a proper French kiss uses 34 face muscles. A short kiss only burns a couple of calories but a French kiss delivered passionately takes care of about 5 of them. When you do that for one full minute, that’s 26 less calories. If you kiss for an hour, that’s about 1,500 calories you’ll burn and you can skip your workout!

Eskimo Kisses aren’t real: According to one Alaskan, the act of rubbing noses isn’t real. It’s supposedly a made up story that has been perpetuated by Hollywood movies. Eskimos kiss just like everyone else.

Kissing is like a drug: Endorphins released while kissing are said to be 200 times stronger than the effects of morphine. That’s why you get that lightheaded feeling after you’ve been kissing for a while. There’s no reason to risk taking illegal drugs when all you have to do is kiss constantly.

Kissing is Germy: One kiss can pass along 278 kinds of bacteria. If you kiss long enough, you can receive 10 million bacteria. That’s enough of a reason to just kiss one person you know and trust and make sure they’re brushing their teeth.

Some diseases can be passed by kissing: Most people know that mononucleosis, known as the kissing disease, can be passed by kissing. However, herpes can also be passed along this way. In addition, there’s been one reported instance of a woman being infected with HIV by kissing in 1997. That happened because both parties had gum diseases that caused even more germs than usual to be passed along.

Kissing is illegal in some locations: In Naples during the 16th century, kissing in public was punishable by death. Even today, in the United States there are some instances where kissing is still technically illegal. In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, kissing strangers is not allowed. Women in Hartford, Connecticut can’t kiss their husbands on Sunday. Indiana men with mustaches are forbidden to kiss human beings. It would be interesting to see what would happen if they do start enforcing these laws.

It seems that kissing can be amazing and totally revolting all at the same time. Now that you know these particular facts about kissing, it’s up to you how you play it. Just remember, if you live in Hartford, Connecticut, don’t kiss your husband on Sundays or you might end up in jail!
