Things you Should Never Share with your Boyfriend

All relationships should have a few boundaries and it’s up to you to make sure you don’t step across certain lines. While you shouldn’t ever intentionally hide things from your man, there are SOME things that he never needs to know about you if you can help it.

Friends’ Secrets: When your friends confide in you, they expect you to keep their secrets. So never share these secrets with your boyfriend. What happens if you tell him an important secret that he doesn’t feel the need to keep to himself? Your friend won’t appreciate hearing her secret bandied about town and will probably not be your friend any longer.

Your Toothbrush: Yes, you do kiss him, tongue and all, but there’s just something about sharing a toothbrush that has a decided “ick” factor to it. Hygiene has come a long way since the invention of toothbrushes and they don’t cost that much. Spring for your own.

Your Password: Giving him your password isn’t the best idea unless you’re married and sharing the same email account. This is like giving him the green light to check up on you. It can make for all sorts of trust issues as well as secret spoilers.

Your Insecurities: Your man doesn’t want to hear about how fat you think your thighs are or how lacking you feel in the chest area. If he didn’t like the way you look, he wouldn’t be with you. This also gives him the fuel for insult hurling during any arguments you may have. Don’t open this door.

How much you dislike his mother: There’s always going to be some women that will never get along with their boyfriend’s mother. This can be for many reasons but you don’t need to go on and on to him about how much you dislike her. After all, she IS his mother and you might just make him feel as if he has to choose between the two of you. That’s never a good thing. Just try to grin and bear it.

Your Bodily Functions: Ok, everyone has gas from time to time. However, that doesn’t mean you need to emphasize those things to your boyfriend. You want him to find you sexy and attractive, right? So don’t share all the details about your stomach flu or terrible periods. He’ll love you more for keeping those things to yourself.

Details of your Past: While lying or hiding your past from your boyfriend is not recommended, there’s no need to tell him how many guys you’ve had sex with, all the nasty things you did to get back at your exes, and about the time you “did” 5 guys in one night. There are just some things that he doesn’t need to know.

It’s totally possible to have an open and honest relationship. You just need to think about what you say before you say it. This will keep you from saying things you shouldn’t be sharing with your guy.
